“Cut out caffeine” is the most repeated tinnitus advice and one of the least personal. TinnitusMe does not tell you to cut anything. It adds up caffeine and sugar, marks alcohol in what you eat and drink, or from a nutrition app you already use, and checks whether the days with more of them are your louder days.

In a blinded trial with 66 coffee and tea drinkers, cutting caffeine had no effect on tinnitus severity, and the withdrawal brought its own symptoms.
St Claire et al., Int J Audiol 2010There is no single food rule that fits everyone with tinnitus, so TinnitusMe never gives one. It compares your days with more and less of each thing and says whether it went with your loud days. If a pattern shows up, Insights suggests a week worth testing, then the app compares your days again.
Food you add in the app: a search of the USDA database, a barcode scan through Open Food Facts, or a photo of the meal that you check and correct before it is added. Or nutrition a food app already writes to Apple Health or Health Connect, which comes in on its own. Either way the day is summed: calories, protein, carbs, fat, fibre, sugar, caffeine and a long list of vitamins and minerals, with an alcohol and a gluten level beside them.

What Happened then tests them against your spikes with the same statistics as sleep or weather. What Strengthens You shows the other side: alcohol-free days, gluten-free days and steady caffeine on your days with no spike.

No. Log what you eat when you can, or let a nutrition app pass it in through Apple Health or Health Connect. The statistics work with whatever is there, and a gap is just a day without food data.
Searching, scanning and photographing food in the app is part of Premium, with the alcohol and gluten tags. Nutrition that arrives from Apple Health or Health Connect is collected on the free app and shows as caffeine and sugar on the Diet card. The full log, the alcohol and gluten tags and the history are part of Premium.
Sodium is summed with the other nutrients, but there is no salt target in TinnitusMe. If your ENT has given you a target, for Meniere's disease for example, that is the number to follow.
